Bengaluru: Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart on Tuesday said it would create 70,000 new jobs and employ more as delivery partners while it preps up for the upcoming festive season sale.
The COVID-19 pandemic has given a boost to the demand of e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart and Reliance as more and more people are buying from home. Amazon is also hiring one lakh individuals in US and Canada.
Flipkart’s “Big Billion Days” sale lasts four or five days around Diwali and usually has deep discounts on many products.
The company will be tying up with 50,000 kirana stores for the last-mile delivery.
“While creating direct job opportunities across Flipkart’s supply chain, that include delivery executives, pickers, packers and sorters, there will also be additional indirect jobs created at Flipkart’s seller partner locations and (local corner stores),” the company said in an emailed statement.
