In view of dense fog in in Northern parts of India, train services are likely to be affected in Odisha.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR), in a press release, on Friday said that the dense fog may delay many important trains including Purusottam, Neelachal, Nandankanan, Sampark Kranti, Duronto, Kalinga Utkal, Rajdhani and New Delhi Super Fast via Angul & Jharsuguda, Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express Trains may be affected badly. This may cause abnormal delay of connecting train movements also.
SMS alerts are being sent to passengers to intimate them on boarding at the departure station about cancellation of trains and delays, it said.
The ECoR has urged the passengers to refer helpline/enquiry number 139 to know the current status of their trains or may follow National Train Enquiry System (NTES) in website or in NTES App in mobile.
Drivers (Loco Pilots) have been instructed to regulate train speed depending on visibility conditions for the safety of passengers and train movement. Apart from this, several precautions have also been taken and train running staff are being counselled by the Railway Officers & Safety Counsellors to cope with the situations, the press release said.
Rescheduling and cancellation of trains may also be announced in the media from time to time, it added.
