New Delhi: On completion of one year in office in his second term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people to follow all rules and guidelines regarding COVID-19 so that inconveniences do not turn into disasters.
Stating that no one should suffer any inconvenience or discomfort in a crisis of this magnitude, the Prime Minister said labourers, migrant workers, artisans and craftsmen, hawkers and many like them have undergone tremendous suffering. But all are working in a united and determined way to alleviate their troubles. “This is a long battle but we have started traversing on the path of victory, and victory is our collective resolve,” he said.
On economic recovery, Modi said given the way India has surprised the world with its unity and resolve in the fight against coronavirus and he believes that the people of the country will set an example in economic revival. The recent Rs 20 lakh crore package given for Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is a major step in this direction, he added.
Citing his government’s achievements in the last one year, Modi listed the decision on Article 370, and abolition of triple talaq. The Ram Mandir judgment, delivered unanimously by the Supreme Court, brought an amicable end to a debate persisting for centuries, he said.
On the economic front, he said PM Kisan Samman Nidhi now includes all farmers. More than Rs 72,000 crore has been deposited in the accounts of over 9 crore 50 lakh farmers.
The Jal Jeevan Mission will ensure supply of potable drinking water through piped connections to over 15 crore rural households. A huge campaign of free vaccination is being conducted for better health of 50 crore livestock.
Farmers, farm labourers, small shopkeepers and workers in unorganised sector are assured of regular monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after the age of 60 years.
The Prime Minister further said the rural-urban gap is shrinking. For the first time, the number of rural Indian using internet is 10 per cent more than the number of urban Indians. At the same time, India has stepped up preparations for Mission Gaganyaan, he said.
