For the first time, the Indian tricolour will be hoisted at the iconic Niagara Falls to mark Independence Day on Saturday.
The ceremony, at one of the world’s most breathtaking scenic spots, will be part of celebrations that will take place across Canada.
Besides the traditional hoisting of the flag at the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and Consulates in Toronto and Vancouver, the Tricolour will also be featured at other significant locations in Canada, like the 553-metre high CN Tower in Toronto. The three-dimensional Toronto sign near City Hall in Canada’s largest city will be illuminated in the colours of the Indian flag.
“It is a matter of great pride that this Independence Day, iconic locations like Niagara Falls, CN Tower and the Toronto sign will be illuminated in Indian tricolour,” India’s Consul General to Toronto Apoorva Srivastava said.
