Former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das Appointed Odisha Governor

Bhubaneswar: Former chief minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das will be next Governor of Odisha.

According to a communique issued by Rashtrapati Bhawan on Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new governors for Odisha and Tripura. While former Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das has been appointed as Governor of Odisha, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has been made Governor of Tripura.

The communique added that President Droupadi Murmu is pleased to make the appointments that will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices. “President Droupadi Murmu is pleased to make the appointments that will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices,” read the communique.

Das, who is national vice-president of the BJP at present, was the chief minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019.

He will replace present Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. Prof Lal was appointed as governor on May 25, 2018 and took oath after four days on May 29. He succeeded Satya Pal Malik, who was holding the additional charge of Odisha along with Bihar. Though his 5-year tenure has ended, he has been continuing in the office as his successor was not announced.
