Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha MP Anadi Charan Das passed away in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening. He was 92.
Das was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in the city where he succumbed. He was married to Netramani Das and had 4 sons and a daughter. But three of his sons have passed away.
A 5 time MP, Das was elected to Lok Sabha from Jajpur constituency in 1971. 1980 and 1984 as Congress candidate. He then switched to Janata Dal and was elected in 1989 and 1991 elections.
An active social activist, Das was suffering from diabetes for a long time. He had undergone heart surgery in August last year and was on pacemaker since then.
Das, who was also an active member of Bhoodan Movement, played a major role in development of Jagannath temple, Biraja temple and Baraha temple in Jajpur.
OPCC president Sarat Patnaik has expressed his condolences on the demise of Das.
