Bhubaneswar: Four students of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) in Dumuduma have been expelled from the hostel for allegedly ragging their batch mate.
The step was taken by the authorities of the educational institution after investigation by the Khandagiri Police revealed that the victim, Srinath Das, a native of Howrah in West Bengal produced the video that featured him being physically and mentally harassed by
four students.
An internal committee has also been constituted by the authorities to inquire into the matter and take further course of action.
The first-year BBA student of the institute had lodged a complaint in this regard at the Khandagiri police station on Wednesday alleging that he was ragged by five of his hostel inmates.
The victim has also stated in his complaint that he had been ragged on several occasions since August this year. Despite repeated complaints, the authorities have not initiated any action against the wrongdoers so far.
When the torture became unbearable, he decided to apprise the police regarding the matter.
