Bhubaneswar: With Hockey Men’s World Cup fever gripping Odisha capital, a Bhubaneswar School Hockey Tournament is being organised at Unit-6 High School Ground here on Sunday.
Four schools from the Twin Cities, Capital High School Unit-3, Tapovan High School, Khandagiri, Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) of Bhubaneswar and Giridhari Jew Vidya Mandir of Cuttack will take to the field to compete for the trophy during the day-long event.
All teams taking part in the tournament will be provided hockey sticks, balls, goalkeeper kits and jerseys.
The initiative aims to celebrate hockey as well as inspire youngsters to get involved in sport. It will also help in identifying talents while motivating schools and parents to allow the children to pursue sports freely.
The event is being organised by The New Indian Express in association with the Department of Sports and Youth Services and with technical support of Hockey Gangpur, Odisha.
