Bhuabaneswar: The Panchayati Raj Department of the State Government on Saturday released the draft reservaton list for posts of Zilla Parishad presidents in the 30 districts.
As per the draft, four of the 30 Zilla Parishad president posts have been reserved for Other Backwards Classes (OBCs) to remove certain anomalies in keeping with the Supreme Court guidelines and other relevant provisions of law. Accordingly, the ZP president posts for Angul, Keonjhar, Khurda and Gajapati districts have been earmarked for OBCs.
The ZP posts in 12 districts have been put under unreserved category. Candidates from unserved classes may contest for the posts in Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Puri, Bargarh, Bolangir, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Boudh, Ganjam and Sambalpur districts, it was notified.
However, the government has reserved Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts for Scheduled Caste candidates.
The government has also reserved ten districts for Scheduled Tribes. They are: Balasore, Koraput, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Sundargarh and Subarnapur.
The notification also makes provision for 50 per cent reservation for women candidates. The has sought objections online with regard to the allotment of reservations by 5 p.m of October 24 over: dir-pr.od@gov.in or prsec.or@nic.in
The list would be finalised on October 29 before being submitted to the State Election Commission, added the notification.
