Balasore: A fraudster was caught by the police in Odisha’s Balasore district for allegedly cheating and collecting money from job-seekers by promising to provide them with employment.
The man, identified as Sashikant Das of Kendrapada district, has been running a diploma training centre near ITI Square in Balasore town. He allegedly collected money from students and others by promising them with jobs, sources said.
The alleged fraud came to light when the youths who had paid money to Das long ago failed to get jobs. On being questioned, the accused reportedly planned to escape from the place, they said.
However, several victims who were cheated by Das captured him while he was trying to flee. He was handed over to the police.
The accused has been sent to Balasore Town Police Station for interrogation. Further details are awaited.
