Bhubaneswar: All citizens in the age group of 18-59 years can avail of free precaution doses of COVID-19 vaccines at government vaccination centres for 75 days from Friday, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
In Bhubaneswar, the doses will be administered at 12 vaccination centres from 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. The drive, which is aimed at boosting the uptake of COVID precaution doses, will begin at the Urban Community Health Centre, Unit 4, at 10 am in presence of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange and Health and Family Welfare director Bijay Kumar Panigarhi.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Panigrahi said that Free booster doses will be made available at 2,500 vaccination centres across the state. “While there are adequate health workers to administer the booster doses to beneficiaries, we do not have enough stock of vaccines and the Centre will be informed about it,” he added.
Amid the COVID surge, the Centre first decided to reduce the duration of the second dose and precaution dose gap to 6 months from earlier 9 months for all adults and then announced to make it free at government centres for 75 days.
