Fresh Low Pressure Likely Over Bay By Sept 23; Check IMD Forecast For Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha may experience more rains with the likely formation of a low-pressure area over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal around September 23, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.

The weather agency has warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts on September 24.

From September 20-23, yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for several districts of the state.

September 20

Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.

September 21

Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

September 22

Malkangiri, Koraput, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda and Puri.

September 23

Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower many occur at many places across Odisha during this period.

According to IMD’s extended weather outlook, light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely at a few/many places in the districts of Odisha till September 26. Isolated heavy rains may also occur from September 22-25. Also overall rainfall activity is likely to remain below normal during this week, it added.
