Mumbai: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai wore a chaotic look with massive crowding and long queues on Tuesday.

The stranded passengers flooded social media platforms with complaints about the situation, sharing photos and videos, tagging airport athorities, Civil Aviation Ministry and the PMO.

An X user shared, “Cattle class service at one and only @CSMIA_Official t2 mumbai airport. #mumbai #airport horrible horrible! Day in day out! @PMOIndia.”

The crowd and chaos persisted for more than 20 hours, said sources.

“@JM_Scindia @ministry @mieknathshinde @IndiGo6E I am amazed how badly managed #Mumbai airport #Terminal1 is. Indigo queue management is non existent.”

@crpfindia does not care anyway @PIBHomeAffairs Never go #Indigo,” an X user with @ashkapoor handle said, sharing two pictures of a crowd and a long queue, at 5.18 PM on September 16.

To this an Indigo replied, “We sincerely regret to note your experience, Sir. Please be assured that we have duly noted your feedback for necessary review and action. We truly appreciate your kind understanding and hope to serve you better in the future.”

Today being a public holiday in Maharashtra on account of Ganapati visarjan, the public inconvenience compounded.

The CSMIA has not come up with a convincing explanation for the unprecedented rush and crowding at the Mumbai airport, said sources.

To the complaints on social media, CSMIA said, “We’ve taken note of your feedback & shared it with the concerned team for their attention. The safety, comfort & well-being of our passengers is our topmost priority.”
