Mumbai: A Vistara airline flight from Mumbai to Frankfurt had to be diverted to Turkey on Friday due to a bomb threat.
After the crew brought to notice security concern, the journey of the Germany-bound aircraft was cut short and arrangements made to land at the nearest airport.
Flight UK27, which took off from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport in the afternoon, landed safely in the evening at the Erzurum airport, in east Turkey.
“Vistara flight UK 27 operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt on 06 September 2024 has been diverted to Turkey due to a security concern that was noted by our crew while onboard. The aircraft has safely landed at the Erzurum Airport. As per protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately alerted and we are fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority,” said a Vistara spokesperson.
Recently, an IndiGo flight from Jabalpur to Hyderabad was diverted to Nagpur following a bomb threat message found on the aircraft.
