Baripada: A minor girl was allegedly roughed up by a police officer during a helmet checking drive at Baripada in Mayurbhanj on Monday.
The victim has lodged a complaint against an ASI identified as SK Mahakud.
Irked over the incident, an angry mob later blocked the National Highway near Sadar police station demanding action against the policeman.
According to eyewitnesses, the ASI and other police personnel were checking motorists for traffic violations. The girl was stopped for not wearing helmet. An argument ensued when the cops asked her for fine. Following which, one of the police personnel thrashed the girl.
The victim was rushed to Raghunathpur hospital for treatment.
