At least two million people worldwide have been infected by the coronavirus pandemic so far. While the positive cases took four months to reach the one million mark, the figure doubled up in the last 12 days.
India has also witnessed a spike in cases to 12,380 with 414 deaths so far.
According to Worldometers.info, the present number of cases stands at 2,083,326 and 134,616 people have succumbed to the deadly virus.
The US has reported the maximum number of COVID-19 cases with 644,089 infected followed by Spain (180,659) and Italy (165,155).
With the virus affecting economies worldwide, Spain’s PM said that things will not be the same until a vaccine is found.
Despite the warning by the World Health Organization (WHO) in some parts of Europe, the restrictions have been eased. In Denmark, primary schools have opened, children have started returning to nurseries. Finland also lifted the travel ban in some parts.
Germany, the fifth largest country to be affected by coronavirus with over one lakh cases is likely to extend the lockdown till May 3, according to sources. Besides this, it is likely to witness a downfall of about 10 per cent in its growth from April to June, Germany economic ministry said.
