New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various government departments and ministries to recruit 10 lakh people on a “mission mode” in the next year and a half, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a tweet on Tuesday.
The instruction for the recruitment in the next 18 months was given by PM Modi after reviewing the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries, it added.

“PM Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years.”
The decision comes amid the frequent criticism by the opposition on the issue of unemployment and a large number of vacant posts in different government sectors. Some 2,560 jobs are likely to be created a day until December 2023, assuming five days a week.
The review meeting was held more than two months after he suggested the secretaries of the central government to take immediate steps to fill up existing vacancies in the ministries and departments, News agency PTI quoted cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba as saying.
However, not much has been revealed about the nature and the level of vacancies available in the central ministries and government. More information is expected to be released within a few months.
