Bhubaneswar: To enable the formation of a new Council of Ministers, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Council of Ministers on Friday.
The Governor has requested Naveen and his present Council of Ministers to continue their work till the new one is sworn.
BJD president Naveen Patnaik will be the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth consecutive term.
Naveen won both the Assembly seat-Hinjili in Ganjam and Bijepur in western Odisha.
Out of 146 Assembly seats, BJD got 112 , BJP got 23, Congress got nine seats, Communist Party of India-Marxist got one and an Independent candidate secured one.
