Govt Sets July Date For Completion Of Construction Work For ISBT In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has set July target for completion of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Bhubaneswar.

During a visit to the ISBT at Baramunda on Thursday, secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian reviewed the progress of work.

It was revealed at the review meeting with the officials that 85% of the project work has been completed and the civil works will be over by June-end. Pandian directed the officials to complete the entire construction work by July.

The ISBT is Odisha’s first global transit system having the capacity for plying 2000 buses per day. It is developed under the 5T initiative of the government.

The inter-state terminal is built on an area of 11 acre at a cost of Rs 180 crore, while 4 acre more has been kept aside for expansion in the future. It will have different facilities for the passengers including a food court, escalator, elevator and pick-up and drop-off points for passengers.

There will also parking space for cars and two-wheelers besides the facilities for prepaid auto-rickshaws, taxis, and taxi aggregators.

The enture terminus will be powered by solar energy and will have Wi-Fi and waste water treatment system. Aahar Plus centre will also be set up in its campus for the passengers. Steps will be taken for relocation of the vendors who have been displaced for the transformation of the bus terminal.

The places where the buses will ply from the ISBT include Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.

Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, BDA vice-chairman Balabant Singh, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange and Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh were present.
