Govt To Construct Barrage Over Mantei River In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will construct a barrage over Mantei river for instream storage system in Bhadrak district.

This was announced by secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian on the second day of his visit to Bhadrak district on Monday. He inspected the Mantei bridge at Nansada under Chandbali block and directed the officials to complete the ongoing works on connecting road soon.

He also visited the mega pipe water supply project which would supply piped water to 526 villages of 92 panchayats under Chandbali, Dhamnagar, Tihidi and Basudevpur blocks. Similar projects would also be taken for water supply to urban areas, he said.

Pandian then went to Basudevpur where he inspected B-type model bus stand uncder construction with a cost of over Rs 5.5 crore. He directed the officials to complete the works before the deadline.

He also reviewed the under-construction community health centre (CHC) under Ama Hospital scheme at Basudevpur and interacted with the doctors and nurses there.

He also took stock of the progress of development of BCCUBB School at Mandari under school transformation programme of the government. During interaction with the students, he highlighted the importance of smart classrooms, library, playground and toilets under the 5T initiative.

Later, the secretary visited Memorial Pillar at Iram under Basudevpur and offered floral tributes to the martyrs.
