Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated and laid foundation stone for several projects worth more than Rs 900 crore in Keonjhar.
The chief minister, who is on a three-day visit to his home district Keonjhar, attended a public meeting to mark 100 days of his government on the last day of his tour. Speaking at the function, he said his government has taken up several projects on road communication, health, infrastructure and railways for fast development of the district.
Stating that the trauma care centre in Dharanidhar Medical College in Keonjhar would be opened this year, he said the government has taken up the Kanupur irrigation project on priority basis. The project, which has been lingering for over 40 years, would be completed by June, 2025.
Besides, 8-lane road between Barbil and Paradip would be completed soon and the government has formed North Odisha Development Council so that all the districts in the area can be developed in a coordinated manner, he said.
“The government has already granted Rs 50 crore for beautification of Maa Tarini temple and would sanction Rs 200 crore more in coming days for the purpose,” he added.
Majhi said now Vande Bharat train is running to Keonjhar and in coming days, the mineral rich district would be connected directly to New Delhi. All the development works have been possible due to the help of the Central government, he added.
Keonjhar MP Anant Nayak, Patana MLA Akhil Chandra Nayak, Telkoi MLA Fakir Mohan Nayak and Keonjhar Municipality chairperson Niku Sahu were present at the function.
