Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will renovate the Harekrushna Mahtab State Library in Bhubaneswar to improve the facilities for the readers.
This was stated by secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian during a visit to the library on Friday. He discussed with the readers about the present facilities and problems faced by them.
Stating that hundreds of readers visit the prestigious library everyday, he said its renovation will be taken up under 5T model of governance. Since the building has become old and the facilities need urgent improvement, necessary actions would be taken accordingly, he added.
He further said the furniture would be replaced with more comfortable ones and the books stored in a modern way while the entire library will be air-conditioned.
Besides, landscaping on the library premises will be taken up. A food court and a cafeteria to be run by Mission Shakti will be opened for students and public. A food center will also be opened for the convenience of the readers, he informed.
Since mostly the students, preparing for different competitive examinations, come to the library, adequate number of competitive magazines will be kept there. Besides, the entire library will operate through IT enabled smart management, Pandian said.
For career counselling of the students, arrangements would be made for motivational talks by experts in different fields, he added.
