Bhubaneswar: A government UP school in Odisha capital has turned a den of the anti-socials forcing the students to attend classes under the open sky.

As per reports, the students of the Government Upper Primary School at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar are unable to go inside the building to study as its verandah is strewn with broken pieces of liquor bottles. While there is no watch and guard system in the school, the iron gate of the school is not locked up at night.

Since the police have been carrying out raids to prevent drinking at public places, the anti-socials have found the school verandah a suitable place to drink at night. To add to the woes of school children, these anti-socials smash the liquor bottles after drinking. As a result, the students are unable cross the verandah to go inside their classrooms.

The school authorities have repeatedly informed the local police in this regard. Though the police carries out patrolling in the area at night, they are unable to nab the criminal elements who escape on sight of the police.

The chairman of the school managing committee and corporator of Ward No 50 of BMC Ramchandra Ransingh said he has filed police complaints several times. The police are conducting the patrolling, but have been unable to catch hold of the anti-socials.

“Normally the broken liquor bottles are found on school verandah on Monday morning as these people party on Sunday night and litter the entire place with glasses and food materials. The school staff clean the verandah in the morning. But it is repeated after a day or two,” said Ranasingh.
