Puri: A young groom in Puri district has won all round applause for pledging to donate his body at his marriage reception.
According to reports, Rakesh Kumar Mohanty of Amalapada village near Nimapada announced to donate his body to SCB Medical College and Hospital in the presence of his bride Rupali, parents and relatives at his marriage reception on Sunday evening.
Rakesh said he was inspired to donate his body for medical science by Sanjeev Kumar Mohapatra of Bargarh district. “The students of SCB Medical College and Hospital can do experiments with my body for their education after my death,” he added.
With an increasing number of medical colleges coming up in Odisha, there is a shortage of cadavers for dissection and practical examinations. This noble gesture by Rakesh will definitely inspire others to donate their bodies.
