Boudh: An encounter broke out between the security forces and Maoists at Nalikumbha forest under Manamunda police limits in Odisha’s Boudh district on Thursday.
According to sources, the Maoists opened fire at SOG and DVF jawans while they were carrying out a combing operation in the area and the latter retaliated, leading to a gunfight.
No casualty has so far been reported in the exchange of fire, which has been going on for past one hour.
Earlier in the day, Maoist posters opposing mining projects and companies in tribal-dominated region were found at Mandibishi village under Kashipur police limits in Rayagada district. Through three posters and banners, they had urged locals to protest against atrocities and political leaders and punish the company brokers.
