New Delhi: Popular American superbike brand Harley-Davidson is reportedly looking to partner with an Indian 2-wheeler maker to manufacture its mid-size motorcycles.
It is said that the big cruiser-maker which is having a tough time in the world’s largest two-wheeler market is planning to venture into sub-500cc motorcycles and is looking for partners with manufacturing and distribution network to do so.
The sub-500cc segment is where Harley currently doesn’t have any products in. To recap, BMW has partnered with TVS while Bajaj is the partner of Kawasaki, KTM and even Triumph.
The company is reportedly interested to get into a non-equity partnership.
The contenders for the collaboration are Mahindra’s Classic Legends which caters to Jawa, and Hero Motocorp, the largest two-wheeler brand in India. However, none of the three brands has confirmed the news yet.
