Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday made it clear that the state government will continue the health insurance scheme for working journalists.
The Chief Minister said this in a written answer in the Assembly responding to a query by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati. The CM said that the scheme would continue and renewal of health cards will be completed soon.
Renewal of the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana for working journalists is under consideration. After approval, the renewal process will be completed before the deadline, he said.
The validity the existing health insurance cards of the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana ends on August 31, 2024.
Since 2018, the government has been providing health insurance to working journalists and their families in the state.
Every year in August before the insurance expires, journalists get a renewed card for the next year. However, after the change of government, the card renewal process is yet to begin this year.
