Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha continued to reel under heatwave condition as 18 places recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Saturday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 11 places reeled extreme heat condition as mercury went up to 42 degree Celsius or more.
Sambalpur was the hottest place in the state with a day temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius. It was followed by Balangir with 44 degree, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Titlagarh with 43.5, Bhawanipatna 43.2, Hirakud 43.1, Sundargarh 42.5, Bargarh 42.2 and Malkangiri and Nuapada 42 degree Celsius.
The IMD has forecast that the heatwave condition will prevail for next 5 days in most parts of the state.
