Heatwave In Odisha: 8 Places Record 45 Degree Celsius Or More, IMD Issues Orange Warning For 7 Dists

Bhubaneswar: With intense heatwave condition prevailing in Odisha, as many as 8 places in western region of the state recorded temperature of 45 degree Celsius or more on Friday.

According to evening bulletin of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, Titlagarh in Balangir district was the hottest place in the state with maximum (day) temperature of 45.6 degree Celsius.

It was followed by Balangir with 46.4 degree Celsius, Sonepur 46.2 degree, Bargarh 46 degree and Sambalpur 45.2 degree. Jharsuguda, which had turned a frying pan on Thursday with mercury shooting to 47 degree, saw a drop in temperature to 45 degree Celsius. Bhawanipatna and Nuapada also registered 45 degree on the day.

The Met office has issued orange warning for Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Boudh districts where heatwave to severe heatwave and warm night condition are very likely to prevail till 8.30 am of Saturday.

It has also issued yellow warning for Bargarh, Sundargarh, Nuapada and Malkangiri where heatwave condition is very likely to prevail during the period.

Hot and humid condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak,
Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, the weather forecaster said.
