Bhubaneswar: All government and private schools in Odisha will remain closed for five days, starting Tuesday, due to the prevailing heatwave conditions, School and Mass Education Department sources informed on Monday.
However, scheduled Matric and Plus II examinations will continue even as the schools will remain shut till April 30.
Notably, the Met Office has forecast a rise in daytime temperature by 2 to 3°C during the next two days and issued heatwave warning for several districts of the state till April 29.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Odisha government had earlier decided to curtail the summer break for school students to compensate for the learning losses due to COVID-19 during the last two years.
The summer vacation was declared for only 11 days from June 6 to 16.
