Heavy Rain To Lash Cuttack City In 3 Hours, Yellow Alert For Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for eight districts of Odisha, including Cuttack city, till 9 pm on Friday.

Moderate rain/thundershower with one or two spells of intense rain is expected at one or two places in Kendrapada, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Bargarh and Nabarangpur in the next 3 hours.

Yellow warning of light to moderate rain has also been sounded for Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Boudh, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Ganjam districts.

The weather agency has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, occasional poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas. People have also been advised to keep a watch on the wether and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lighting strikes.

Notably, there was a forecast for isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on June 21 and 22.

Southwest Monsoon has already covered 24 districts of Odisha – Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Deogarh, more parts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Balasore and some parts of Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj.
