Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm is likely in some parts of 12 districts of Odisha, including Cuttack citym till 6.15 pm, the regional centre of India Meteorological (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
The districts are Nabarangpur, Balangir, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Boudh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and Keonjhar. People have been advised to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Earlier in the day, Bhubaneswar had witnessed a heavy downpour.
Many places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Gajapati and a few places in the remaining districts of the state are also expected to experience rain during the next 24 hours.
While IMD has issued no warning on heavy rain till Wednesday, yellow alert has been sounded for the subsequent three days.
