Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure over north Coastal Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, the director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas, said on Saturday.
The heavy rainfall will continue in Odisha for two more days under the influence of the low pressure, Biswas added.
The Met director informed that the average rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours was 50.4 mm.
Jajpur district received the maximum rainfall of 245.2 mm in the state, followed by Kendrapada (140.4), Bhadrak (132.3), Dhenkanal (126.5), Jagatsinghpur (125.4), Chandbali (118.4), Paradip (113.6), Bhubaneswar (107.3), Cuttack (105.1), Deogarh (97.7), Malkangiri (94), Keonjhar (54.4), Khurda (54.3), Angul (44.8), Nayagarh (42.8), Puri (40.8), Jharsuguda (28.5), Koraput (23.3), Sambalpur (21.6), Sundagarh (20.6), Balasore (17.4), Kalahandi (15.5), Nabarangpur (14.3), Mayurbhanj (13.2), Ganjam (10.7), Boudh (10.4) and Gajapati (10.3).
On the other hand, there was scanty rainfall in Gajapati (3.1), Balangir (3), Sonepur (2.7) and Bargarh (2.4). There was no rainfall in Nuapada district.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Deogarh, Angul Boudh, Nuapada and Sonepur in the next 24 hours.
Stating that the there has been 13% deficit rainfall in Odisha between June 1 and August 14, Biswas said that the ongoing rainfall in the state will replenish the deficit to a great extent.
