The MeT office further said that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab during next 2 days. “Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm & lightning very likely to continue over the region during next 5 days. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh on June 29, 30 and July 1. Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over parts of East India on June 27 and over northeast India during next 5 days,” it added.

Notably, rainfall deficit for the country came down to 23 per cent on Monday, an improvement of 10 per cent through the weekend, due to formation of a low-pressure area, first of the season, which now lies over north Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood. It is very likely to move westnorthwestwards towards north Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days, the IMD said in its morning bulletin.
