New Delhi: Not for the first time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni impressed the internet with their bonhomie and good vibes.
Modi, who was received with a ‘namaste’ by Meloni at the G7 Summit venue in Italia’s Apulia on Friday, had a bilateral meeting before posing for selfie and a short but sweet video.
“Hello from the Melodi team,” Meloni says as she clicks a selfie and video with Modi, as the two ‘good friends’ are all smiles and wave to the viewers.
The video, posted on X by Meloni, went viral in next to no time.
#Melodi went viral on social media after Modi and Meloni’s meeting at the COP28 Summit in Dubai last December.
The two leaders had a “good meeting” on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
“Had a very good meeting with PM @GiorgiaMeloni. Thanked her for inviting India to be a part of the G7 Summit and for the wonderful arrangements. We discussed ways to further cement India-Italy relations in areas like commerce, energy, defence, telecom and more. Our nations will work together in futuristic areas like biofuels, food processing and critical minerals,” Modi posted on X with pictures of the meeting.
According to the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two leaders discussed defence and security cooperation.
“The two sides (India and Italy) discussed bilateral defence and security cooperation and hoped for further enhancing the defence industrial collaboration. They welcomed the forthcoming visit of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and training ship ITS Vespucci to India later this year,” a statement from MEA said.
