Bhubaneswar: With an aim to keep the kin of COVID-affected patients updated about the daily health status, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up eight help desks at the 8 dedicated COVID hospitals in the capital city.
The helpdesks, operating with 16 doctors and 44 helpdesk executives, have made 10,471 calls in the first five days since the facility’s launch on May 18.
Working in two shifts, each helpdesk is led by a doctor who guides the executives in deciphering the health status data provided by hospitals.
While four helpdesk executives are working in each shift at SUM, Hi-Tech and KIMS COVID hospitals, two executives in each shift are working at Aditya Ashwini, Blue Wheel, Neelachal COVID, Sparsh Kantabada and KIDS COVID Hospitals.
BMC Commissioner and CEO BSCL Sanjay Kumar Singh said the helpdesk executives are acting as a bridge between the family members and patients in COVID hospitals proving them some relief during these pandemic times.
