London: Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, announced the launch of a blue badge on users’ profile as premium verification service on these social media platforms.
The subscription will cost $11.99 per month on the Web and $14.99 per month on iOS platforms.
The service will be made available in Australia and New Zealand for the first time. More countries will follow soon, said a Meta notification.
Interested users can get their profile verified with a government ID.
Besides profile verification, the subscription bundle for Instagram and Facebook will also provide protection against impersonation.
Meta’s move comes after another widely used social media platform Twitter started charging users premium amount under Twitter Blue subscription.
Indian users have to pay Rs 650 and Rs 900 per month on website and mobile, respectively, to avail the blue tick service.
