Bhubaneswar: A girl student of Hi-Tech Medical College allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of the hostel building of the medical institution on Monday. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital in a critical condition.
The girls is a third year student of BSc, Nursing and a resident of Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district.
Following the incident, the family members of the victim lodged a complaint at Mancheswar police station alleging that she took such extreme step after being mentally harassed by the college authorities.
According to the girl’s brother, he had accompanied his sister after she complained of mental harassment by college authorities. However, he alleged that the college authorities misbehaved with them and even called her sister characterless. He also claimed of having the video footage of the entire incident.
On the other hand, the college authorities have refuted to the allegations levelled on them and claimed that the girl was a psychosis patient and was under treatment for a long time.
