Khurda: Two highly-decomposed were found near a river at Gadamanitri village in Begunia of Odisha’s Khurda district on Wednesday.
According to sources, a few young boys, who went to the river bed to graze their cows, spotted the bodies and informed the police. Gadamanitri Beat Officer Saroj Kumar Senapati, Begunia police and Khurda SDPO soon reached the spot and seized the bodies, which is suspected to be of a couple missing for the last 10 days.
A missing complaint was filed in Begunia police station a few days back by the parents of a woman from Lathipada village under Hirapur panchayat of the district. She was reported to be missing along with her male partner from Botalama village in Atharanga panchayat since missing May 11.
Sources further said that family members of the couple have identified the bodies from the clothes they were wearing. While they allege that the duo was murdered, police said that they are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of their death. A scientific team is investigating the matter, Gadamanitri Beat Officer Saroj Kumar Senapati told media.
