Bengaluru: It took the full bench of Karnataka High Court 11 days to hear all concerned parties in the hijab case. The bench reserved its judgment on Friday, asking the parties to give their written submission to the court.

The court had earlier asked counsels in the case to finish their arguments by Friday, indicating that the hearing would be wrapped up this week.

Senior advocate Devadatt Kamat, appearing for one of the petitioners questioning the ban on hijab, argued that the government order prohibiting any clothing which disturbs harmony in educational institutes is illegal.

The Advocate General argued during the process of 11-day long hearing that there is no ban on hijab as the government order bans all religious clothing in educational institutions.

Even as the case was being heard, there was confusion in some quarters over the interpretation of the government order banning religious clothes in educational institutes.

An Amritdhari Sikh girl was told to take off her turban in a private college in Bengaluru, which later reversed its decision.
