Hijab Petitioners Are Terrorists And Anti-Nationals: BJP Leader

Bengaluru: Even after the Karnataka High Court announced its hijab verdict, the controversy over wearing of headscarf refuses to die.

Muslim girls who had moved the high court against the state government’s order banning hijabs inside educational institutions were labelled ‘anti-national’ and ‘members of a terrorist organization.’

State BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna made the outrageous claim on Thursday.

“The girls have once again demonstrated that they are not students but members of a terrorist organization. A terrorist organization from Hyderabad came here & trained them on what statements should be given in the media. They are disregarding the learned judges by making a statement in opposition to the High Court verdict,” said Suvarna, national general secretary of the BJP OBC Morcha and also vice-chairman of Udupi Government Pre-University College Development Committee.

“What should we expect from them for the country when these girl students call the judgments of learned judges politically motivated and against the law? They’ve demonstrated that they’re anti-nationals,” he added.

Not satisfied with Karnataka High Court’s ruling that wearing hijab is not an essential practice in Islam and upholding the state government’s ban, the petitioners have appealed to the Supreme Court.

“We are confident that the Supreme Court will issue a decision that is beneficial to the entire country,” the BJP leader said.
