Bhubaneswar: A pair of hippos has been sent to Nandanvan in Chhattisgarh from Nandankanan Zoological Park, on the outskirts of the city.
The mammals were transported in a special vehicle late on Thursday.
On October 9, the Central Zoo Authority of India had directed the Nandankanan authorities to send the hippos (a male and a female) to Chhattisgarh.
A five-member team of Nandanvan had visited Nandankanan earlier on October 4 to hold discussion with the authorities here.
The male hippo was born in Nandankanan in 2007 and the female in 2009, sources said.
