Hockey WC Inaugural Event: Colleges & Varsities Across Odisha To Shut After 2PM

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department has declared a half-day holiday in all colleges and universities across Odisha in view of the Celebrations of Men’s Hockey World Cup at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack city on Wednesday.

“All higher educational institutions in the state will declare holiday after 2 pm to allow faculty/staff/ students to witness the inaugural event,” an official notification said.

While Cuttack is buzzing with excitement over the much-anticipated event, sports enthusiasts across the globe can also witness the spectacular opening ceremony, which will be broadcast from 3 pm onwards, on Sports Odisha YouTube Channel, DD Sports and watch.hockey.com and feature popular Bollywood actors and singers.

Earlier, the Cuttack administration had declared a half-day holiday in government offices, all educational institutions, banks and banking institutions within Cuttack Municipal Corporation limits.

The event is a precursor to the Hockey World Cup, which Odisha is hosting for the second consecutive time from January 13-29,
