Bhubaneswar: In its bid to present a clean and beautiful city for the international players and sports lovers coming to Odisha capital, which is hosting FIH Men’s Hockey World Cupp 2023, the BMC has decided to stop all construction works.
According to sources, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) took the decision after consultation with the stakeholders engaged in construction works in the city. All the ongoing works related to roads, infrastructure and others will be stopped for a month.
At the same time, the BMC has discussed with members of shop owners’ associations, representatives of market complexes and shopping malls to keep their campuses clean and suitably decorate those in the spirit of hockey world cup.
The BMC has also requested to spruce up the buildings housing private companies and enterprises and illuminate those with colourful lights to give the city a festive look.
Earlier in the day, the BMC had directed to keep the city skyline clear by announcing “no hoarding zones” in different stretches of roads and areas in the city.
