Khurda: Two persons, including a home guard, have been arrested for allegedly transporting seized firecrackers and liquor from Begunia police station Odisha’s Khurda district.
The home guard has been identified as Prakash Muduli.
According to sources, police seized two truckloads of firecrackers and around 25kg of gunpower illegally stored in a godown during a raid at Kantabada village on Saturday. The liquor was seized from a car near Begunia Stadium. The seized items were then kept on the premises of the police station.
The accused duo was caught by locals while illegally transporting the items in a car last night. They informed the police when the two failed to answer satisfactorily the purpose behind the transportation.
“A case has been registered under IPC Sections 379, 411, 34, 52 A Odisha Excise Act and 9 B of Indian Explosives Act. The accused will be forwarded to court. Further probe is underway to ascertain the possible involvement of others in the offence,” the SDPO said.
