Bhubaneswar: People testing positive on their arrival in the Odisha capital from high-risk states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, will have to undergo institutional treatment.

The 11 passengers, whose antigen test at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Sunday was found to be positive, were admitted to SUM COVID Hospital here. So was the case with the three people found infected at Bhubaneswar railway station. Among them, two are passengers and a bookstall staffer.

According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, the decision for institutional treatment of the patients was taken considering the high infectious strains of COVID-19 found in these states.

The seven infected employee of the SBI main branch at Unit-I have, however, been allowed to home quarantine.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar saw a drop in COVID-19 daily caseload on Sunday with the number falling to 38 from 71 the previous day.
