Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants looted ornaments and cash from a house while the family members were asleep in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night.
According to sources, the miscreants entered the house in Shastri Nagar of the city by breaking the window grill and went to the bedroom where all three members of the house were sleeping. They broke open the locker of the steel almirah in the room and looted more than 150 gram of gold ornaments, around half a kg of silver ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash.
“We went to sleep at around midnight. We don’t know when the thieves entered the house and looted the valuables. We were woken up by our neighbours after finding our main door open. They knocked on our bedroom door which was locked from outside,” said the owner of the house to media.
His wife said, “We never sleep so deep. They looted all my life’s saving and we have no clue when the l;ooters entered the room.” The miscreants also broke open the almirah in the adjacent room before decamping with the valuables.
The family suspected that the looters used chloroform spray to render them unconscious and then committed the crime. Police have collected the CCTV footage of the area and started investigation.
