Bhubaneswar: Eggs were hurled at the house of President of Odisha Vikash Parishad Sushanta Padhi, who had moved Supreme Court to stall Puri Rath Yatra, at Bomikhal here on Monday.
The attack was reported even as the Supreme Court, which on June 18 halted Rath Yatra amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled to hear modification petitions on the matter.
The attackers also pelted his car with stones, as a result of which the windshield of the vehicle was damaged, and raised slogans against him. Following which, policemen deployed at his place resorted to lathi-charge to disperse them.
Padhi had earlier told the media that he had been getting death threats over the phone and on social media platforms after the June 18 verdict of the apex court, stalling annual sojourn of the sibling deities across Odisha.
Police sources said that CCTV footage is being checked to identify the attackers.
