Bhubaneswar: A woman police officer was injured as a house owner attacked her while she had gone to rescue a domestic help in Odisha capital on Sunday.
According to sources, Namita Gauda of Sabar Sahi in Srivihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits in the city works as a domestic help in the house of Biswajit Das in the same locality. She used to do household chores in Biswajit’s house from 6 am to 10 am everyday.
As per her routine, when Namita went to do her work on Sunday morning, Biswajit accused her of stealing money and precious items from the house. He locked the house from inside and told Namita that he would release her after she paid Rs 1 lakh.
Biswajit’s neighbours came to know about it and informed the police. A police team arrived at Bisajit’s house and broke the lock to go inside. A woman ASI went to rescue Namita whom Biswajit had caught by neck.
As the ASI tried to rescue Namita, Biswajit attacked her. Though the lady cop sustained injuries, she managed to free Namita from the hands of Biswajit.
While the police team was enquiring about the incident from Namita, Biswajit managed to escape from the spot. The police have registered a case against Biswajit and launched a manhunt to trace him.
