Bhubaneswar: India’s first ‘Glamping’ festival, Marine Drive Eco Retreat, on Ramchandi beach at Konark has been extended till February 15.
It was earlier scheduled to culminate on January 31.
According to sources, the Tourism Department decided to extend the carnival in view of the overwhelming response of tourists to the glamorous camping festival, which is being organised to boost global appeal of Odisha’s key tourist destinations.
To promote the carnival across the country, the department will be conducting a two-day conclave of all Tourism ministers and secretaries on January 23 and 24 to discuss strategies for development of the sector. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the festival and Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel is scheduled to attend it.
The Eco Retreat offers a unique experience of night stay in 50 luxury cottages with thematic ambience, hospitality of a five star hotel and a full-fledged corporate conferencing facility to accommodate 150 participants. Tourists visiting the event can also avail beach spa, thrilling water sports, nature trails and cultural evenings.
